Work is defined as the energy transferred by a force acting through a distance. (Actually, this is mechanical work, but let’s just call that ‘work’ for now.) Push a block 5 meters using 100 newtons of force, and you do 500 joules of work. This is why if the block doesn’t move, distance is 0, and no work is done.
Back in history, mankind knew about doing work through motion like this, either themselves or with animals like mules. People also realized that moving inanimate substances like wind and water could do work, by turning windmills or water wheels. Other ways of doing work were unknown, so this was how everything in the world was accomplished for millennia.
With NYFW less than 8 weeks away, we’re looking to send some of the most creative people from our community to cover fashion week on our behalf.
